Ricardo Gomez (b. 1996, Detroit, Michigan) is an Ypsilanti-based artist whose paintings examine identity, transformation, and the forces that shape who we are. Informed by four years of monastic life and his Mesoamerican Indigenous ancestry, his practice considers how identity emerges through the tension between karma and free will. His work asks how much of who we are is inherited, conditioned, or consciously created.
